Firefighters Give Muscular Dystrophy the Bood
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FIREFIGHTERS GIVE MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY THE BOOT
(Kirksville, MO) — The Kirksville Fire Department and IAFF Local 2952 raised a record amount of money during last year’s Fill the Boot campaign. Firefighters conducted two, three day “Boot” drives at the intersection of Illinois and Baltimore Streets and raised nearly $20,000 with the help of the great community they serve.
On Monday May 1, 2017, Kirksville Fire Department and IAFF Local 2952’s MDA Coordinators, Bill Adams and Silas Springer, attended the Annual IAFF 2nd District’s MDA Kickoff/Bootcamp. During the awards ceremony, Kirksville Firefighters Local 2952 were awarded the following:
Highest average amount raised per member for IAFF 2nd District (Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska) with $1333.33 per member. The next closest amount was $482 per member.
Throw down Challenge winner by raising more money than their challenger, St Joseph, MO.
2017 Bob Palmer Award, awarded to Firefighter Bill Adams (the highest award in the 2nd District)
The Kirksville Fire Department and IAFF Local 2952 would like to thank everyone in the community who helped them achieve their goal. Without that community support, they would not be able to help those families affected by Muscular Dystrophy.
“This was a truly phenomenal effort on the part of all of the employees at the Kirksville Fire Department,” said Interim Fire Chief Jim Hughes. “This is just one more example of the extraordinary community involvement from your local emergency first responders.”
