Sex Offender arrested on new charges

(Kirksville, MO) On 9/27/2017 officers with the Kirksville Police Department and the Kirksville Regional Computer Crimes Unit (KRCCU) arrested Scott Walsh (Age: 46) for sexual exploitation of a minor. Walsh is a registered sex offender in Adair County.

The Shelbina Police Department started the investigation of Walsh when the cell phone of a 12 year old boy was turned in by a concerned parent.

KRCCU was contacted to assist with the investigation. The 12 year old victim reportedly sent a nude video of himself to the 46 year old male at Walsh’s request. The investigation continues and Walsh is in custody facing formal charges.

The KRCCU and these investigations are made possible from funds provided in part from the Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and funds from Cyber Crime Grants through the Missouri Department of Public Safety. The KRCCU has been in existence since 2006 and does both proactive and reactive cases for 13 counties in Northeast Missouri. In addition to cases like this one the KRCCU provides educational presentations to adults and children on the topics of Cyber Safety and Internet Crimes.
