KIRKSVILLE NAMED TREE CITY USA
(Kirksville, MO) — Kirksville has been named a 2016 Tree City USA for the 19th consecutive year by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management. Kirksville achieved Tree City USA recognition by meeting the program’s four requirements: a tree board or department, a tree-care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita, and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.
Lower energy consumption, reduced cost of storm and erosion management, boosted property value, and stronger community ties are all benefits of being part of the Tree City USA community.
